Freedom

That feeling, like when you can fly, Seems to only reach some by suicide

When the Dow goes down, then the funds,

Go down,

then the fun goes down

And people begin to drown

Its that

Real life, in the USA,

While young men fight wars,

Free guns means Freedumb, means,

black male in jail,

Freedom for some means that

maker they meet because food

aint free

and jobs

aint free,

and money still don’t grow on trees, its that

Child who sees the life he wants to lead, but

the life he has to lead is a whole other thing,

Getting as much education as he can afford,

because at some point he was afforded freedoms,

but education

aint free,

and teachers work for free,

and free lunch was never a healthy thing, and

That freedom guaranteed after Juneteenth,

guaranteed that half of us would only see what is seen

And not see what is there,

and only see on TV,

and never see overseas,

and never see what can be,

they only see what they see,

and what they see is what happens,

when freedom and freedom

don’t mean the same thing.

 

Color freewrite

The color of vast oceans

That hide the tears and tails

Of whimsical creatures that

Want to be part of a world

That they really rule,

Being that the earth is made of

Of teal mermaids tears

And the tales of men that

Search in vain for veins of

Mystical beings, because

Mermaids blood is the fountain of youth

That floods mortals with immortality.

It’s the color of YOLO,

Fancy birds match their tails to their talons

And parade around in a show of

Feathers and those who flock

Fall prey to the beauty of the unknown

Teal is the color of indecision

Not so green, not so blue

But sad in the fact that its identity is shared

With 2 beings that only wish they were

As great as what they bred

It’s the color on the palate that

If you add white its light

And black, its blue, and

Bruises on white heal teal

Its happiness at the end of a summer day

Before the sun sets and the sky turns

Orange and before the dawning of dusk

On the right day, at the right moment

There is peace.
